Relentless - Dean Koontz The one thing you can count on in a Koontz novel is that there will be a cool dog.

I liked the premise of this novel. Surly book critic goes all psycho when novelist seeks him out. If it stayed with that, this may have been a great thriller. But Koontz goes off with lots of other ideas, none of which I can reveal without spoiling the story. The result is a good tense tale ruined by too many weird odds and ends. Weird odds and ends usually isn't a problem for Koontz but he seems in a hurry with this one, perhaps an affect from writing so many bestselling novels over so many years. While I enjoyed it, the ending was just too silly for my taste. But then again there's that "weird little Einstein" and his equally strange dog. That alone is worth the price of admission.
