Dearly Devoted Dexter - Jeff Lindsay The second book of the Dexter series is grimmer, much more gruesome, as if I thought that was even possible, and slightly less funny but still one that kept me riveted. Lindsay's dark humor is still at play and Dexter's Dark Passenger continues to reap havoc with anyone unlucky to attach themselves to this likable killer. I can understand why the second season of the TV series Dexter chose to go a different path than this novel. Even Showtime has limits to what they will run on cable. There's not too many people I could recommend this book to but those who have a very high tolerance for violence, thinks dismemberment has a funny side, and thought the first book was light reading should love this second helping of mayhem.
