Chronicle of a Death Foretold - Gregory Rabassa, Paul Giovanopoulos, Gabriel García Márquez This is a rare example of a novel being too short. Marquez's narration begs to continue and I wanted to know more about the people. Yet, on second thought, it is just right. Marquez is not interested in the mystery or the murder as much as the reaction of the community and their reluctant to prevent a well announced killing. This is one of Marquez's more enigmatic novels and, as usual for this author, a tiny masterpiece.
